The Sierra 2500’s Duramax diesel makes 975 lb-ft and tows up to 22,430 pounds, ahead of the Ram’s Cummins at 850 lb-ft and up to 20,000 pounds. Both come with a gas V8 standard.
The Ram 2500 is the only one available as a factory Power Wagon, with a winch and locking differentials. The Sierra counters with the off-road AT4 and the upscale Denali. The Ram is known for a comfortable, upscale cabin of its own.
The Ram starts lower, around $46,855 versus about $49,295 for the Sierra 2500, though diesel and trim choices move the price more than the base sticker.
Choose the Sierra 2500 for more diesel towing and the Denali badge. Choose the Ram 2500 for a lower start, the factory Power Wagon, and a comfortable cabin.
