The Durango offers V8s up to a 710-plus-horsepower Hellcat and tows up to 8,700 pounds. The Explorer uses turbocharged four- and six-cylinders, tops out at 400 horsepower in the ST, and tows up to 5,000 pounds.
The Explorer’s turbo engines are more fuel-efficient and its newer platform feels modern inside. The Durango trades some efficiency for V8 character and towing.
The Durango starts a bit lower, around $38,995 versus about $41,000, and includes available V8 power the Explorer does not offer at all.
Choose the Explorer for efficiency and a modern cabin. Choose the Durango for V8 power and much more towing. At ALM CDJR Perry, a new Durango can add ALM VIP Club benefits and our Included Lifetime Warranty on qualifying vehicles.
